The international English journal GPD hired a well-known Canadian professor as the deputy editor-in-chief.
In December 2022, the English language journal Gene&Protein in Disease (abbreviated as GPD) hired Consolato M. Sergi, a well-known Canadian professor, as the associate editor in chief.
Consolato M. Sergi is the head of the Department of Anatomical Pathology at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and a professor of paediatrics and pathology at the University of Alberta and the University of Ottawa in Canada. He established the Canadian laboratory in August 2008. Professor Sergi welcomed more than 100 postgraduate/doctoral students, researchers, undergraduates and summer students, and is teaching genetics and pathology. He is the carcinogenic consultant of WHO/IARC laboratory animals in Lyon, France, and the "temporary" peer referee of the National Toxicology Program of the United States. Professor Sergi has more than 300 peer reviewed PubMed publications (h index: 23, RG score: 44.26,>2500 citations). E.g. Sergi CM Pediatric sarcoidosis with diagnostic and therapeutical insights. The journal Gene&Protein in Disease is an international journal focusing on the latest research progress of genes, proteins and diseases, mainly publishing the latest research achievements in molecular medicine and translational medicine. Professor Sergi determined the role of apoptosis in the malformation of hepatic ductal plate (Am J Pathol, 2000). A new CTL4/Neu1 gene fusion transcript was used in salivary deposition (Hum Genet 2001, FEBS Lett 2002, J Med Genet 2003). Two new genes, namely WDR62, encoded centrosome related protein (Nat Genet 2010) and OTX2, whose mutation led to jaw malformation (J Med Genet 2012), As well as the characteristics of bile microbiome (Infect Drug Resist 2019, HPB (Oxford) 2019, J Med Microbiol 2018, Eur J Clin Microbiol Infect Dis, 2018), the research projects of Professor Sergi are indistinguishable from those of our journal. I sincerely thank Professor Sergi for joining the editorial board of our journal and leading the trend of medical science and technology.
Since the official launch of the English language journal Gene and Protein in Disease on June 30, 2022, the international level of editorial boards has made new breakthroughs: recently, the proportion of international editorial boards has exceeded 50% for the first time, respectively from more than 20 countries such as Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Professor Sergi is very happy to join the editorial board of the journal. We also believe that with the participation of Professor Sergi, our journals will become better and better, go global and provide a new platform for the development of world medicine.
