DR. ATTIA AFZAL (中文名称:阿雅), from Pakistan born in 1983, graduated in 2016 from China Pharmaceutical University (CPU, ranked No. 1 in the discipline of Pharmacy), Nanjing-China. She earned his PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Guagji Wang (former President of CPU and Academician) fully-funded overseas scholarship for PhD in China by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Her PhD research work was focused on In Vitro and In Vivo metabolic studies of cancer drug and product development that was accomplished in A Key Laboratory of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics. She has practical experience of advanced mass spectrometry techniques such as LC/MS-IT/TOF including other analytical instruments such as LC-MS MS, HPLC, UV, FTIR, and Fluorescence Spectrophotometer. She is familiar with current good laboratory practices (cGLPs) for cell culturing and experimental animal handling. From the last 14 years, she is engaged with teaching and research field of pharmacy profession and working as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy of The University of Lahore, Lahore-Pakistan. She joined International Joint Laboratory for Nuclear Protein Regulation, Henan University, Kaifeng-China as a Post Doc Fellow. She was the first post-doc fellow in the lab. She is the pioneer to develop PCNP (PEST containing nuclear protein) based therapeutics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. XinYing Ji. She published world’s first review paper on PCNP in Cancer Medicine. Her World second review paper on PCNP, equally contributed first author, also has been published in Journal of Cellular Physiology. She also displayed PCNP based first E-poster in the virtual conference organized by Korean Society of Medical Oncology (KSMO), Seoul, Korea, 2020. In this poster presentation, she presented PCNP as a novel target in cancer therapy.
During her stay in the lab, she assisted master and PhD international students in their research projects. She regularly attended “International Saloon”. International salon is a platform where international and local students of the school participate in an activity to promote mutual understanding of research cooperation. It is a great opportunity for the early career researchers to develop presentation skills for big conferences. Environment of the lab is very friendly. There is a regular training session for the newcomers in the lab about instruments and other research facilities including cell culture lab.
During the fellowship, she won Post-Doctoral Start-Up grant from Henan University, China. Her research findings were published in good quality SCI journals such as Journal of Cellular Physiology, Cancer Medicine, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutics.
Other then lab work, Kaifeng is a historical Chinese city. There are many things in the city belong to Chinese culture. Night food market is a place to enjoy Chinese cuisine. The residents of Kaifeng are so caring for the foreigners. Being post-doc fellow, I enjoyed my time in the lab and in the city.
I wish to set a long-term research cooperation with the host institute in future. She wish to establish WORLD’s first PCNP BIOPHARMA LAB with product development facility in near future in collaboration with the research team of HenU.
