DR. MUHAMMAD SARFRAZ (中文名称: 杨宁), from PAKISTAN born in 1982, is an experienced researcher in the field of nano-drug delivery for anticancer drugs and genes. Since 2009, he is serving as a faculty member in the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Lahore, Lahore-Pakistan.
He earned his PhD degree major with Pharmaceutics in 2017 from Huanzhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), one of the prestigious institute ranked No. 8 in China. His contribution in the field of his expertise was acknowledged by awarding Honorary International Graduate Certificate by HUST-China (2017). His PhD research work was focused on tumor targeted drug delivery that was completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Xiang Guangya, Vice Dean of School of Pharmacy. He has practical experience of cell culturing techniques and experimental animal handling. He is also familiar to use analytical instruments such as UV spectrophotometer, Fluorescence spectrophotometer, HPLC, FTIR, XRD, TGA, and DSC. Along with his teaching and research experience, he also had worked in a well-known national pharmaceutical industry.
In 2018, He joined International Joint Laboratory for Nuclear Protein Regulation of Henan University (HenU), Kaifeng-China as a Post Doc Fellow. He was a member of pioneer batch of post-doc team in the School of Basic Medical Sciences of HenU.
He completed his Post Doc Fellowship in September 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shao-Ping Ji and Prof. Dr. Xin-Ying Ji. His research work published in the prestigious SCI journals such as Journal of Cellular Physiology, Cancer Medicine, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, and Pharmaceutics. A piece of his post-doc project was also presented in a virtual conference organized by Korean Society of Medical Oncology, Seoul-Korea. During his post-doc project, he won 3rd category start-up research grant. There were other bonuses and awards for the outstanding students/researchers/post doc fellows offered by the university and the lab based on research progress. During his post-doc fellowship, he developed biomedical research skills by getting opportunity of work on various biomedical instruments and techniques such as flow cytometry, nano-drop, fluorescence microscopy, western blot, and immunohistopathology.
During his post-doc stay at HenU, he actively participated in “International Saloon” organized by Henan University College of Medicine (HuCom), every week for international students. International saloon is a great initiative of Hucom for career building of the students and post-doc fellows. In this saloon, the international students and local Chinese students and teachers share their research experience to strengthen their own knowledge and expertise in the field of interest. The regular training of lab facilities are also organized for the new students in the lab to get them familiar with the lab-working environment. “SAFETY OF THE STUDENTS IS THE FIRST PERIORITY” is the slogan of the lab. There is a coordinated research environment in the lab where each student present his/her work progress in the lab meeting every week. There is friendly environment in the lab where local and international students cooperate with each other in their assigned research tasks.
It was a great experience of my life. I am highly thankful to my mentors to make me a skillful researcher. I hope the host institute and my parent university at my home country will tie in a long-term research cooperation in the future.
Recently, Muhammad Sarfraz is promoted to Associate Professor (March 2022). He is the incharge of Microbiology Lab. He is also serving as a principal investigator of HUST-UOL International Joint Nanomendicine Centre for Cancer Research.
